NOLAN CARROLL

Nolan Carroll II, born January 18th, 1987, in Jacksonville, Florida, seemed destined to be an athlete. Even as a younger child, Nolan seemed to be all over the house, constantly running around. At six, he quickly found a new love for playing soccer at a local YMCA. He was always ready for new challenges during his childhood, becoming involved in track and field in elementary school. Growing up, however, wasn't traditional, considering both of his parents were in the military; however, thankfully, the majority of their time in the service was in Jacksonville. Nolan attributes his parent’s regimented parenting style growing up to his long career in the NFL.

Nolan was drafted in the fifth round of the 2010 NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins, where he excelled in his four years. Nolan started 20 games in his 3 1/2 years with Miami and was a playmaker at all levels: he had three interceptions, one forced fumble, and 2 QB sacks in his career with the Dolphins. An elite cover corner- among corners that have played at least 50% of their team's snaps in 2011, Nolan ranked 6/69 in completion % at just 47.5! And among corners that have played at least 50% of their team's snaps in 2013, Nolan ranked 5/69 in missed tackles with just one. In 2013 Nolan lead all Dolphins cornerbacks in tackle percentage stopping and opposing QB completion percentage. Nolan was one of the top free-agent corners available in 2014. In 2014 Nolan made the list of potential pro bowl eligible players.

As a free agent, Nolan signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2014. In 2015 week 6, Nolan was named to "Gruden's Grinder." Nolan shut down Odell Beckham Jr. and had a pick-6 to put the game away. By the 11th game in the 2015 season, before his season-ending injury when fellow players fell on and broke Nolan's fibula, Nolan ranked 2nd amongst all NFL cornerbacks with 57 tackles, ten passes defended, and two interceptions, including a return for a touchdown. In 2015 Nolan made the list of potential pro bowl eligible players.

In 2016 Nolan established the Nolan Carroll Foundation to support educational opportunities and promote a healthy lifestyle for today's disadvantaged youths. The foundation is active in many communities throughout the country, providing STEM educational opportunities, adopt-a-school support, and challenge reading programs to help improve academic achievements among at-risk kids. Acqua e Farina by Ciro Esposito Foodtruck

Raffaele Esposito was an Italian chef and owner of a tavern in Naples called Pizzeria di Pietro e basta così (lit. 'Pietro's Pizzeria and that's enough') in the 19th century. Pietro Colicchio founded the tavern in 1780. Some consider Esposito to be the father of modern pizza.

In 1889, pizza had not yet become a popular or well-known dish and was typically eaten by poor people to utilize various ingredients that would otherwise be wasted. At that time, Esposito was considered the premier pizzaiolo (lit. 'pizza maker') in the city of Naples.

According to a popular (but questioned legend, Esposito was requested to prepare a pizza for Queen Margherita of Savoy, who had traveled to Naples with King Umberto I. Esposito and his wife were admitted to the royal kitchens to prepare this dish as he saw fit. Deeming the traditional garlic topping to be unfit for the royal palate, Esposito instead prepared three different pizzas, the last of which used a combination of tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil to emulate the red, white, and green of the Italian flag. It is claimed by some sources that this was the first time pizza was made with mozzarella cheese.

Queen Margherita, having never had pizza before, so enjoyed the dish that she had her head of table services send Esposito a letter to commend his pizzas, stating that they "were found to be delicious". Esposito used this recommendation to successfully promote his restaurant, naming the pizza most enjoyed by the Queen, "Pizza Margherita". The legend of pizza Margherita is considered a false history, as a pizza made with the same toppings was already present in Naples between 1796 and 1810.

It is widely reported that this event caused pizza to become a fad, from which it retained enduring popularity. Because of Esposito's experiments with ingredients and presentation, and his successful preparation of the dish for Queen Margherita, it is suggested that Esposito was the father of modern pizza.

Esposito's restaurant still exists on the spot where it was founded by Pietro Colicchio, at Salita Sant'Ana di Palazzo 1/2, although its current name is Pizzeria Brandi. The royal letter favoring Esposito's pizza is on display in the restaurant. Later research cast doubt on this legend, undermining the authenticity of the royal letter of recognition, pointing out that no media of the period reported about the supposed visit and that both the story and name Margherita were first promoted in the 1930s–1940s.
