“Creativity is a process of the soul. It does not need an outcome or a product for the world to accept. It requires only the truth of its own expression.”

These words ring true in my life. I’ve come to realize that creativity is deeply personal—a sacred thread connecting us to the Creator. But the path to embracing that truth hasn’t always been clear for me.

A Moment of Revelation

I remember a time when I almost gave up on my creativity. It was a season where everything felt like sand slipping through my fingers. I had ideas, dreams even, but they seemed impractical or “not good enough.” I questioned myself: What if no one cares? What if my work isn’t received well?

One night, I sat at my desk, staring at a blank page, feeling paralyzed. That’s when a parable I had heard in childhood came rushing back: the story of the fool who built his house on sand and the wise man who built his house on rock (Matthew 7:24-27).

It hit me—I had been building my creative house on the sands of public approval and worldly validation. No wonder it kept crumbling. If I wanted my creativity to stand strong, I had to anchor it to something unshakable. For me, that was God.

The Shift That Changed Everything

After that realization, I started creating differently. I prayed before starting new projects, asking God to guide my hands and thoughts. Instead of worrying about how others would react, I focused on what felt true to my spirit.

I’ll never forget the first time I shared something after this shift. It wasn’t perfect, but it was honest. And you know what? It resonated with people in ways I couldn’t have planned. That’s when I learned: that creativity doesn’t need to be polished to have purpose—it just needs to come from a genuine place.

Scripture Illuminates the Path

The Bible reminds us that our gifts are not meant to be hidden. “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” (Matthew 5:14). Creativity, like light, is meant to illuminate and inspire.

My Prayer for You

If you’re struggling to embrace your creativity, I want you to know that I’ve been there. I’ve felt the weight of doubt and the pull to hide my gifts. But God didn’t give you those gifts to bury them. He gave them so you could shine.
